A summary of the history of the place
Built in 1830 by Alexandre Fabre, one of the first French polytechnicians. He was sent to Tsar Alexander I, by Emperor Napoleon I, as a bridge and road engineer, to lay out roads in the vast Russian Empire. After spending 20 years in Russia, he returned as a major general with an annual pension of 8000 rubles. In memory of this period, he built the Castle of Le Puy, which he wanted to be a perfect replica of the cadet school in St. Petersburg. He made it his home and a museum for his collections.
The ruined castle was restored by the Belgian lawyer Georges Hermans in the 1970s...
